Daily Tasks & Responsibilities of Occupational Therapy Assistants:

  • Implement occupational therapy treatment plans and home education programs under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist
  • Make progress with patients mastering activities of daily living (ADL) such as dressing, grooming, and feeding.
  • Contribute to the development of engaging and goal-oriented play-based interventions.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Contribute to reassessment and re-evaluation of progress that leads to discharge for all goals met.
  • Assist with standardized assessments at the guidance of your Occupational Therapist Supervisor.
  • Collaborate with and supervise Therapy Aides, Clinical Students, Interns, & Volunteers at a project level.
  • Provide ongoing support to children and families, ensuring a positive and encouraging therapeutic experience.
  • Celebrate patient success such that they are an inspiration for others!

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program according to AOTA & ACOTE standards.
  • Certification obtained from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Licensed and/or eligible for licensure as a. Occupational Therapy Assistant as required in the state of Kentucky.
  • Ability to develop creative and engaging therapy activities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Additional Skills

  • Experience in pediatric settings is a plus, but new graduates are welcome to apply!
  • Knowledge of pediatric therapy techniques and interventions such as: sensory integration therapy, assistive technology, adaptive equipment, behavior management strategies
  • Ability to adapt therapy approaches to meet the needs of individual clients
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Passion for working with children and helping them achieve their full potential
